(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals after an incident that took place in the City of Dryden.
On March 16, 2024, officers from the Dryden Detachment were made aware of an individual possibly in possession of explosives. At this time an investigation was commenced.
As a result of the investigation, explosive devices along with suspected cocaine and methamphetamine were located. Two individuals were taking into custody and charged.
A 23-year-old woman from Dryden, was charged with: Explosives – Making or possessing for unlawful purposes; Uttering Threats – Damage Property; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamines; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I substance – Cocaine and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
The accused person has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing on March 18, 2024.
A 21-year-old woman from Dryden, charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine.
The accused person has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on April 15, 2024.
The investigation was completed by the Dryden Detachment and North West Region Crime Unit with assistance from the OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU).

SUSPENDED DRIVER
(FORT FRANCES, ON) – A routine traffic stop by members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has led to an arrest and multiple charges being laid.
On March 17, 2024, at approximately 8:45 pm, a Rainy River District officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 11 near Lake Road.
The driver was identified as a suspended driver and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. Subsequent to the arrest, police located an open package of cannabis in the vehicle readily available to the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 52 year old of Fort Frances has been arrested and charged with: Drive while under suspension; Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open original packaging; Improper number plate light; Fail to surrender insurance card.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on May 17, 2024, to answer to the above charges.
DRUG CHARGES
(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), has led to charges being laid against a local Dryden resident.
On March 18, 2024, just after 4:00 p.m., a 60 year old man was arrested for possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, in the area of Mary Avenue, City of Dryden.
On March 18, 2024, just after 6:00 p.m., a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at a residence on Mary Avenue, City of Dryden, where a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone pills, oxycodone pills, over $9,000 in Canadian currency, and evidence of drug trafficking were located.
As a result of the investigation, John KING has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act: Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (5 counts); Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000.
The accused has been remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail where he is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Kenora on March 21, 2024.
DRUG BUST
(KENORA, ON) – Two individuals from Kenora face charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).
On March 15, 2024, shortly after 2:00 p.m. officers with the Kenora Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) observed a drug transaction between two persons near the Kenora Court House.
Police arrested the individual that presented the drugs and a search resulted in several hundred Hydromorphone (Dilaudid), multiple Percocet tabs, and methamphetamine individually packaged. Total value of the seized drugs was approximately $15,000 CAD.
A large amount of Canadian currency was also seized in relation to these charges.
As a result, a 34-year-old woman and 42-year-old man, both of Kenora, have been arrested and charged with: Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- 3 Counts; Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
One was additionally charged with Trafficking in Schedule I substance
One accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on March 17, 2023, for a bail hearing.
The other accused was released with a future court date to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on April 11, 2024, for a bail hearing.

YOUTH INCIDENT
(GRASSY NARROWS) – A youth is facing charges following a stolen motor vehicle incident in Grassy Narrows.
On March 13, 2024, just before 10:30 p.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 671 south of Grassy Narrows. Further investigation revealed that the motor vehicle was stolen from a residence on Mission Road.
One individual was located within the vehicle and was subsequently placed under arrest.
As a result, a 15-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.
