Rainy River District OPP officers investigated 135 occurrences between July 30 and Aug. 2.
Officers responded to nine motor vehicle collisions, including four involving wildlife. No injuries were reported in any of the collisions.
Officers also conducted traffic enforcement duties throughout the weekend including RIDE checks and highway patrol.
Forty seven provincial offence charges were laid including three charges for motorists having a radar warning device. Motorists are reminded that radar warning devices are illegal in Ontario.
And on Saturday at 1:15 a.m., officers were patrolling the west end of Fort Frances when they observed a motorist driving his vehicle erratically.
As officers turned to follow the vehicle, the driver sped away from police at a high rate of speed and turned the vehicle lights off in attempt to evade police.
As the motorist drove to the area of McIrvine Road near Eighth Street, the vehicle came to a stop.
The driver exited the vehicle, fell to the ground, got up and ran away from the vehicle.
Officers located the male a short time later in a private business area where he was arrested.
One male has been charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences, entering a premise where entry is prohibited and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
