Students and staff at Sturgeon Creek School have spent the last couple of months preparing for their first musical production in many years.
“Peter Pan,” which stars Janissa Judson in the leading role, will take place next Monday and Tuesday (March 5-6) at 7 p.m. in the school gym.
Tickets cost $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and students under 18 (pre-schoolers are free).
Although Peter will not actually fly, with a little imagination, an amazing set, and a talented cast, the audience will be carried off to the wonders and enchantment of “Neverland.”
This fast-paced musical, full of mischievous fun, no doubt will stir an adult’s childhood memories while introducing the younger members of the audience to one of the world’s most enduring and timeless classic tales.
The script, which stays true to the original story, will include all the popular characters, such as John, Michael, Wendy, Nana, the lost boys, Tinker Bell, Captain Hook, the pirates, and, of course, Peter Pan.
The musical numbers, which will include well-known favourites like “I Won’t Grow Up,” will have those on hand tapping their toes and singing along.
The public is invited to purchase tickets at the school office during school hours.
Any leftover tickets will be available on the evenings of the play, but seating is limited so it is advised that tickets be purchased in advance.

The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting its annual Shamrock tea and bake sale on Friday, March 16 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Emo hospital cafeteria.
Admission is $3, with funds raised going towards the X-ray upgrade at the Emo hospital.
Auxiliary memberships also will be available for $2 each.
Baking from anyone who would like to support the auxiliary also would be greatly appreciated.

Emo youth soccer will be holding registration for the upcoming season next Wednesday and Thursday (March 7-8) from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Emo arena.
Soccer is for all boys and girls from JK-Grade 8. Games will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday.
The cost is $30/player. There will be a late registration of $40 per player.

St. Patrick’s Church in Emo will be holding a roast beef supper on Saturday, March 17 starting at 5 p.m. in the church hall.
The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children aged six-12 (kids five and under are free).
There also will be “Luck of the Irish” door prizes, draws, and entertainment.
Watch for posters around town and plan to attend. Everyone is welcome.

The Emo and District Lions Club will host its second-annual “Farmers’ Night” on Saturday, March 24 at the Barwick Hall.
Tickets cost $25 each, with the evening to include dinner, a cash bar, and draw prizes donated by local businesses and national sponsors.
Everyone will go home with a prize!

The fourth and final public meeting of the Donald Young School’s accommodation review committee will be held next Wednesday (March 7) starting at 7 p.m.
A large number of concerned citizens attending this meeting will show committee members and the local public school board that the community is extremely serious about supporting the continued existence of our local school.

This year’s Promise Keepers’ conference, entitled “Built for the Battle,” will be held March 9-10 in Winnipeg and is open to men from across the district.
You are invited to join almost 2,000 other men at this national conference, which will take place at the Church of the Rock (1397 Buffalo Pl.)
“Built for the Battle” will include fantastic speakers, live music, and resources to equip you for life.
The cost of attending is $70 per person for Friday/Saturday, or $45 for Friday only and $55 for Saturday only.
