Press Release
Just a note to let you know what is happening at our local Legion Br. #29.
We are having a double night of Hallowe’en parties on Oct. 28-29.
There will be costume judging for prizes both nights so put on your best costume and come out to rock with “Thinking of Pinky.”
The meat draw will be held on the Friday evening. For a $2 ticket, you will have a chance to win a meat package or a prime rib or a gift certificate.
You do not have to be a Legion member to attend these events.
We also are going into November, which is our busiest month.
Our annual “Poppy” campaign runs from Oct. 28-Nov. 11 so when you see a poppy box, please give generously.
This money goes towards our veterans and their families with the respect they deserve.
It covers extra care that may be required by a veteran, bursaries for their children and grandchildren, as well as “Last Post” for the veteran when they pass away.
As always, we will have our Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph in the Fort Frances Cemetery on Nov. 11 starting at 11 a.m.
In other news, we are running our early-bird campaign for membership renewals.
If you renew your membership in October or November, you could win your membership dues for 2018 (one name will be drawn each month).
If you wish to become a member, you can pick up an application form at the Club Room or the Legion office.
If you would like more information, call the office at 274-0129.
