Pair of new fires reported

Two new fires were confirmed by yesterday afternoon in the Northwest Region.
Fort Frances Fire #9 was listed as “out” at 0.1 hectares at last report but Fort Frances Fire #10, located near Eva Lake, was “not under control” at 0.1 ha.
Red Lake Fire #30 has grown to 3,739 ha is size but now is listed as “being held.”
Crews continue to work on suppressing this fire, which is located 60 km west of Poplar Hill.
As well, Nipigon Fire #5, located 10 km north of Webequie, is reported as being held” at 143 ha.
The forest fire hazard is predominantly “low” to “moderate” across the Northwest Region, with an area of “high” hazard remaining in Nipigon District.
