From the OPP
On Friday at 11:30 p.m., Rainy River District OPP officers stopped a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act infraction.
After speaking with a 17-year-old driver, he subsequently was arrested for an alcohol/drug-related offence.
He was taken to the Fort Frances detachment and released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 28.
His vehicle also was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory seven days.
Then on Saturday at 10:25 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on the 300 block of First Street East in Fort Frances.
The driver, a 21-year-old Fort Frances woman, failed the roadside test and was arrested and transported to OPP detachment for breath tests.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory seven days.
The driver subsequently as charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
She also was charged with Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act offences.
She is scheduled to appear in court here on Feb. 4.
