Pair of drivers charged

Two people were charged with impaired driving offences here over the weekend.
On Sept. 27 around 1:15 a.m., Rainy River District OPP officers stopped a pick-up truck after observing a Highway Traffic Act infraction on the 200 block of Second Street East.
After speaking with the driver, he was arrested and taken to the Fort Frances detachment for tests.
A 20-year-old Fort Frances male subsequently was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level over .08 mg, as well as several Highway Traffic Act infractions.
His first court appearance will be Oct. 26.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and will be held for the mandatory seven days.
Also on Sept. 27, around 11 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle on the 1400 block of Colonization Road after receiving a report of a possible stolen vehicle.
After further investigation, a 26-year-old Fort Frances woman was charged with having a blood alcohol level over 80 mg after she failed the roadside screening device and subsequent breath tests.
She also was charged with driving under suspension.
Her first court appearance will be Nov. 23.
The vehicle also was towed and will be held for the mandatory seven days.
