Jennifer Carmody and Megan Bob will be attending the Ontario Winter Games in Cambridge in March after making the Northwestern Ontario ringette team.
The pair, who play for the Emo Bandits, were invited to try out for the regional team back in September.
“So we drove up to Thunder Bay and tried out for the team,” noted Bob, adding they both ended up making the team and will be attending the Ontario Winter Games.
“We are now playing for the Northwestern Ontario team as well as our home team here in Emo,” she added. “Jennifer and I will be travelling to Thunder Bay later this month for our first full team weekend camp.”
In order to be on this team, each of the girls must raise about $1,000 from donations and/or selling different items, such as juice boxes, chocolates, and meat.
The money is needed to cover ice time, team uniforms, plane tickets, and bus fare to tournaments and other related expenses involved with travelling with the team.
Carmody and Bob are grade 10 students at Fort Frances High School.
