Pair face charges

Two Fort Frances residents were charged following an incident last Thursday (Sept. 2).
Fort Frances OPP officers first spotted a 20-year-old female lying in the roadway on the 100 block of Third Street West around 1:30 a.m. A male companion, 26, then was found to have a can of tear gas on his belt.
The male was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. He will appear in court Oct. 25.
The female, meanwhile, was arrested and charged with breach of probation. She was held in custody until a court appearance later in the day Thursday.
In other news, a Thunder Bay man, 21, was charged with careless driving following a single-vehicle accident last Thursday (Sept. 2) on Highway 11 west of the Bears Pass bridge.
Police said the driver lost control of his eastbound pickup truck shortly before 9 a.m. and struck a rock cut. The vehicle then rolled over, coming to rest on its roof in a grass field.
The driver sustained minor injuries, and was taken to La Verendrye Hospital here by ambulance, police added.
The accident remains under investigation.
