Pair face charges of drug trafficking

Fort Frances OPP officers are conducting an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances.
On April 20, members of the Fort Frances OPP, the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit, the Northwest Region Crime Unit, and the Tri-Force Drug Unit conducted a traffic stop at the Noden Causeway on Highway 11.
The vehicle was destined for Fort Frances and contained illegal drugs.
A police investigation led to the seizure on a quantity of cocaine and oxycontin.
Dwayne Steiner, 32, of Fort Frances has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Lawrence McMahon, 32, of Thunder Bay was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
McMahon was remanded into custody at the Fort Frances Jail, where he is awaiting a show cause hearing May 5.
