The Borderland Community Orchestra will spread holiday cheer through music this Sunday (Dec. 2) starting at 2 p.m. at the Backus Community Center in International Falls.
Now in its 20th season, the orchestra, under the direction of Katherine Williams of Emo, includes more than 40 musicians from all across the district, as well as International Falls, Littlefork, Baudette, and Williams, Mn.
A former member now living in Thunder Bay will join the concert that features a wide variety of music that will appeal to all ages.
Selections will include “Santa at the Symphony,” “Christmas at the Movies,” the “Nutcracker Ballet Suite,” LeRoy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” and “Christmas Eve in Sarajevo.”
“Stille Nacht,” a wonderful version of “Silent Night” featuring Dr. Eric Kopenda from International Falls on cello and Harvey Lein from Baudette on piano, also will be performed.
Families are encouraged to come and bring their children.
Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for kids aged six-18, with pre-kindergarten children being free.
Tickets are available at Betty’s in Fort Frances, the Backus office and City Drug Store in the Falls, and at the door.
The concession stand will be open before and during intermission.
