Orchestra holding fundraiser concert for Emo library

The Borderland Community Orchestra will be doing its best to lift everyone’s spirits, while raising money for a good cause, with its “Pop Your Winter Blues” concert Friday night at Donald Young School in Emo.
Orchestra member Margaret Sedgwick said last week that all proceeds from the concert, which starts at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, will be split between the Emo Public Library and DYS.
As the “pop” in the name suggests, the music performed won’t be drawn from the classical realm.
“People can expect music from the Caribbean, ‘My Fair Lady,’ ‘Mona Lisa,’ the Harry Potter movies, and some old favourites,” noted Sedgwick.
She added the performance will include most, if not all, members of the 65-piece orchestra, which features musicians of varying ages from the Borderland area.
Tickets are available at the Emo Public Library, the Fort Frances Public Library, and from members of the Borderland Community Orchestra.
The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children under 14, and $20 for families.
