Members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to advise the public that they are working diligently with local stakeholders to increase the safety and security of the Scott Street area in Fort Frances.
Members of the OPP have been increasing police presence by actively conducting regular foot patrol.
They have met with local community members providing safety information to individuals and business owners alike.
They have worked proactively with the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) to address drug-related occurrences.
They have also worked with members of the OPP Auxiliary Program to facilitate and promote the OPP Safeguard Program to individuals and businesses.
Finally, they have created a voluntary surveillance camera registry program as a form of community watch.
The OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in addressing these issues by:
- Being aware of your surroundings, and taking note of any suspicious or criminal activity;
- Being cognizant of personal and business/residential safety measures; and
- Reporting suspicious activity to the police in a timely manner by calling the OPP Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122, or 911 if there is an imminent risk to personal or public safety.
