On Saturday at 10:25 p.m., Rainy River District OPP officers received a report of a traffic complaint on King’s Highway 11 in Watten Township.
Officers patrolled and located the vehicle and driver.
During the investigation, the driver, a 28-year-old woman of Emo Township, failed the roadside test, was arrested, and transported to the OPP detachment for breath tests.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory seven days.
The driver subsequently was charged with having a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
Then on Monday at 5:30 p.m., officers from the Atikokan OPP received a report of a motor-vehicle collision in the Township of Atikokan.
Officers attend the scene and arrested a 33-year-old Atikokan man after conducting an investigation.
He was transported to OPP detachment for tests while the vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory seven days.
The driver subsequently was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
Both drivers will appear in court at a later date.
As well, officers were patrolling on Highway 11 on Friday evening when they observed a nearby motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.
Radar confirmed the driver was travelling at 125 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.
The driver, a 19-year-old male from Baudette, Mn., was charged with stunt driving while his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He will appear in court on a later date.
OPP officers also issued about 20 Provincial Offence Notices across the district over the weekend.
The OPP also wishes to remind motorist that as warm weather approaches, wild animals tend to more active at sunrise and sunsets.
As such, drivers should pay more attention during this time.
