OPP investigating boating mishaps, fire

Kenora OPP are investigating two boating accidents which occurred on Lake of the Woods Aug. 4 and 5.
In the first incident a 33-year-old woman was thrown from a boat in Regina Bay after the vessel her husband was driving hit a wave at an angle.
While in the water the woman struck her head and arm against the boat’s propeller.
She was taken to Lake of the Woods District Hospital where she was treated for cuts to her head and arm and released.
No charges will be laid in this incident, which is under investigation by the Sioux Narrows Nestor Falls Satellite office of the Kenora OPP.
In the second incident, a 19-year old Winnipeg woman operating a Sea Ray boat during an early morning rain storm struck a boat port with a boat in it. The accident took place in Kendall Inlet at around 3:30 a.m.
Police have reported it was raining heavily at the time and visibility was poor.
Neither the woman nor her passenger were injured, however damage to both boats, as well as the boat port, is considered extensive.
In other news, members of the Sioux Narrows Nestor Falls Satellite office of the Kenora OPP are investigating a fire that destroyed the Pinnacle Gift and Tackle Shop in Sioux Narrows on Aug. 6..
The blaze, which began shortly before 6 a.m., started in the shop and spread to nearby bush area before fire fighters and MNR personnel extinguished it.
No one was injured in the fire and damage is estimated at $1 million.
