OPP detachment commander named

The OPP is pleased to announce the appointment of the new detachment commander for the Fort Frances cluster. Inspector Dave Lucas will be commencing his duties Jan. 3.
Insp. Lucas began his policing career with the RCMP in 1990, posted to the Invermere detachment in British Columbia.
He joined the OPP in 1992 and was assigned to general law enforcement duties in Thunder Bay.
His experiences there included being a coach officer, the community policing liaison officer, Emergency Response Team member, and detective constable with the crime unit.
In 1998, he transferred to the Kenora OPP, where he was a detective constable and ERT member before being promoted to detective sergeant in March, 2002.
He returned to Thunder Bay as the area crime supervisor for Major Crime Investigations.
He later was promoted to sergeant major as the unit commander for the Northwest Regional Professional Standards Branch. In that capacity, he was responsible for the investigation of internal and public complaints in the Northwest region.
Insp. Lucas and his family are looking forward to moving to the Fort Frances area.
