The Rainy River detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police assisted by the Criminal Investigation Unit is seeking assistance from the public in solving a break, enter and theft from three local businesses.
Sometime between 5:30 p.m. on July 12, and 11:45 a.m. on July 13, suspects entered the Rainy River Public Library on Fourth Street. Once inside culprits removed a laptop computer, flat screen computer monitor and other computer accessories.
Also, during the early morning hours of July 13, suspects entered the Royal Canadian Legion in Rainy River stealing liquor and cigars.
Furthermore, during this time suspects broke into Lowes Lumber in Sleeman. During this incident an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.
Police are also investigating a break and enter to the Hannam Park Canteen during which suspects stole several video games as well as a 13” television.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Meanwhile, officers from the Fort Frances detachment of the OPP would like to remind residents to be vigilant in securing their residences and outbuildings in an effort to prevent property crimes.
It is also recommended that homeowners install a motion sensing light to buildings situated near alleyways to deter thieves. Whether you are at home or traveling, always be sure to lock your vehicle and remove any valuables. Remember don’t make your property an easy target for criminals because it is left insecure.
