Police in Dryden have charged a motorist with a second count of impaired and dangerous driving for the second time in one month.
According to a press release from the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), members of the detachment responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at the Laura Howe Marsh parking area in the morning of Saturday, January 31, 2026. Police had been advised that a black SUV had entered the parking lot before accelerating, launching over a snowbank and landing in a ditch. The male occupant of the then reportedly exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, though he was located a short distance away a short time later and arrested.
A 33-year-old male from Wabigoon Lake First Nation has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
As part of the investigation, officers determined that the accused was arrested and charged for the same two offences just over one month prior, after allegedly live-streaming while consuming illicit substances and operating a motor vehicle.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a futre date.
“The OPP would like to remind the public that charges have been laid and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law,” the OPP said in the release.
