Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a person after an Assault occurred in a downtown business.
On Saturday, December 10, at 12:01 p.m. members of the OPP received a report that an intoxicated person had assaulted an employee and then broke a number of items at a business in the 100 block of Main Street South in Kenora. Officers responded immediately and located the person nearby, who was arrested after an altercation.
As a result of the investigation Police have charged a 23-year-old Kenora woman, with the following charges: Assault; Assault a Peace Officer; Mischief Under $5000.
The accused was held in custody to answer to the charges.
In an unrelated incident, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Dryden Detachment have arrested and charged two individuals in relation to a break and enter.
On the December 10, 2022 at approximately 7:24 a.m. officers received a report of a break and enter in progress at a business in the Hamlet of Wabigoon.
Officers attended the business and found that entry was made at the business by damaging a window. Once inside, a quantity of cigarettes and processed meats were removed.
A short time later, the persons were located and arrested. A quantity of stolen property was recovered in addition to a variety of controlled substances and stolen cheque books.
As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old woman from Stanbridge East, Quebec and a 25-year-old man from Granby, Quebec were charged with the following offences: Break, Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – under $5000 – in Canada x 3.
The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on January 9, 2023.
