The situation remains quiet in the West Fire Region, with only one new fire to report from over the weekend.
Thunder Bay Fire #36 is a 0.3-hectare blaze which was reported Saturday and probably human-caused.
It currently is listed as “under control.”
There are no other active fires in the region, or the province for that matter.
Since April 1, there have been 174 fires the region, consuming 13,930.9 ha
The fire hazard remains “low,” but the Ministry of Natural Resources is reminding the public they should always be “FireSmart” regardless.
When having a campfire for warmth or cooking, keep it small, never leave your fire unattended, and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving the site.
And remember—if it’s windy, don’t light!
