One new fire reported on Eagle Lake

the MNR

One new fire was reported in the West Fire Region in the past week.
Dryden Fire #24 is a human-caused blaze on an island on Eagle Lake in Dryden District.
This 0.3-hectare fire was assessed and is not posing any danger to people or values.
It will be monitored until going out naturally.
Meanwhile, smouldering continues at the site of a successful prescribed burn on another island on Eagle Lake that was ignited last month.
This is beneficial as the smouldering continues to burn off storm-damaged forest, reducing the potential for future forest fire hazards and restoring the island’s ecosystem.
The fire is not posing any problems and is being monitored as it goes out naturally.
These are the only two active fires in Ontario.
In related news, with hunting season upon us, hunters and campers are reminded to be “FireSmart.”
With cooler evenings and mornings, people are lighting campfires for warmth and cooking. When you are ready to leave the site, ensure to properly extinguish your campfire.
