One new fire reported


Only one new fire was reported yesterday in the Northwest Region.
Two fires, meanwhile, were called “out,” bringing the total number of active fires in the region to 23.
All of these blazes are in Sioux Lookout District and Nipigon District, and cover a total of 6,635.2 hectares altogether.
Since April 1, there have been 156 fires, which have charred 7,063.9 ha
Seven of these have been in Fort Frances District.
Rain today and into the weekend will lower the fire hazard in the southern part of the region to “low.”
No rain is forecast for the northern half of the region, which will maintain a “high” hazard.
