One new fire was reported in Fort Frances District yesterday.
Fort Frances Fire #44 is a 0.1-hectare, human-caused blaze located south of Harvey Lake, just west of Quetico Provincial Park.
It was classified as “under control” as of this morning.
It was a quiet day for new fires on Tuesday, too, with just two new ones reported—one in Kenora District and one in Red Lake District.
The Ministry of Natural Resources said the forecast is for continued unsettled weather, including more showers in the north through to tomorrow, which will help ease smoky conditions and the fire situation.
There currently are 63 active fires in the region, covering 82,502 hectares.
Since April 1, there has been 492 fires, charring 84,260.8 ha in total.
