One new fire was confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.
Red Lake Fire #14, located near Jubilee Lake, was listed as “under control” at 0.1 hectares in size.
Meanwhile, Thunder Bay Fire #25, located on an island on Myles Lake, was declared “out” at 0.8 ha.
The forest fire hazard is “low” in the southern sectors of the region, and “moderate” to “high” in the north.
The three remaining active fires in Red Lake District reported minimal fire behaviour yesterday.
Mop-up continues on Kenora Fire #28.
Red Lake Fire #10 and Fire #11 both are classified as “being held.”
The region now has seen 128 fires to date, charring a total of 2,751.2 ha.
Fort Frances District has seen 12 fires to date, burning 27.2 ha.
