A Remembrance Day service at Our Lady of the Way School opened with the marching in of the colours performed by comrades from the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99 at Emo.
Next, “O Canada” was sung, then there was the call to worship.
“We have gathered here to worship God. We have come to honour those who served in world wars and those who sacrificed their lives that we could live in peace and freedom.”
The Prayer of Invocation was followed the hymn, “O’ God our Help in Ages Past.” An Old Testament reading was taken from Deuteronomy Chap. 8, v. 11-18, followed by a Gospel reading from John 15: 9-14.
The sermon was given by Pastor Andrew Hall of Calvary Baptist in Emo.
After the hymn, “Amazing Grace,” was sung, the Prayer for Peace and The Lord’s Prayer were recited, followed by the hymn, “Let There be Peace on Earth.”
Commissioning and benediction then were given, concluding with the anthem “God Save the Queen” and the marching off of the colours.
Also participating in the service were Rev. Eileen Bragg (St. George’s Anglican), Rev. Barbara Miller (Knox United), and Fr. James Panikulam (St. Patrick’s and Our Lady of the Way).
