The Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce has increased its focus on information technology, launching its expanded web site–www.noacc.com–last week.
“We updated our site because we wanted to remain current,” said NOACC president Jon Christianson of Thunder Bay. “We have to show members that change is all a part of living and conducting business in this Internet world.”
As the “Voice of Business in Northwestern Ontario” since 1931, NOACC remains at the forefront of lobbying government for positive change, said president-elect Tannis Drysdale of Fort Frances.
“The new Web site serves to keep our business community informed about the issues that effect the business, the economy, and the quality of life in Northwestern Ontario,” she noted.
“Our past Web site information wasn’t necessarily as up-to-date as it could be,” she added. “Our goal with the new site is for information to be updated quickly and efficiently.”
The site was re-designed by NOACC vice-president Doug Lampi of Atikokan to permit members to access and update any information easily, using a basic program like Microsoft Word.
Then, visitors can keep up on the progress of NOACC resolutions, such as the Northern Ontario Medical School, and find links to related policy research sites, as well as all NOACC’s regional and corporate members and various business development networks.
Drysdale noted the re-designed Web site ties into the Northern Ontario On-Line Outreach Initiative (NOI), a two-day series of e-business seminars being hosted in nine regional communities now through mid-May, including one April 10-11 at the Red Dog Inn here in Fort Frances.
“NOI is one of the reasons we wanted the new Web site up. Its good to show what we’re all about,” said Drysdale. “The new Web site assists NOACC in meeting the challenge of communicating with our membership and the government.”
Topics at NOI include Web marketing, the impact of e-commerce on businesses and communities, and electronic management.
