Newspaper contest deadline extended

If you thought you’d missed your chance to enter the “This Old newspaper!?” Reader Contest, you’re in luck. The Ontario Community Newspaper’s Association has extended the deadline, to allow school participation, now that it’s confirmed that classes are back. Entrants now have until Thursday, October 8, to turn in their creations.

To enter, gather up your old newspapers, and use them to build something new and creative – clothing, home decor – you’re only limited by your imagination. At least 70 per cent should be newspapers – the rest is allowed to be structural elements.

When it’s complete, bring your creation down to the Fort Frances Times office on First Street. Included should be a brief write-up about your project’s creation, and photos of the process used. Then every submission from across Ontario will be posted online, and opened to a public vote. The winning entry in each category, of Junior under 18, Open and Family, will win a $1,000 prize.
