A new radio station is on the airwaves in Borderland and along with it, a new tune from a local band.
CKWO-92.3 (The Wolf) began broadcasting from Couchiching on Monday and one song that will be heard for the next little while is an offering from local band “Thinking of Pinky.”
“Might as Well” is the first of what guitarist and vocalist Dan Jones will be four-six songs slated for release over the next 12 months—culminating with the full CD tentatively scheduled for release in a year’s time.
In the meantime, you’ll be able to catch the first offering every day until their next single is released.
“We’ve been promised a three-month rotation,” explained Jones. “We’re hoping to have the CD released in about a year.”
The song and pending CD were produced by Cliff Pidlubny of Insyde-Out Productions in Fort Frances.
“Thinking of Pinky,” consisting of Jones, Pidlubny on guitar, and Scott Downs on bass, is based in Fort Frances and appeared at the Grandstand Jam in Emo last summer.
Jones describes the group as “a hobby band, just having fun.”
“While most people around here go hunting and fishing, we play guitars,” he remarked.
Jones said they intend to make an appearance at the centennial celebrations in Rainy River this year as well as a return engagement at the Grandstand Jam.
You also can catch them at the Rainy Lake Hotel on Feb. 12-14.
