New councillor chosen in Alberton

Lisa Allan has been chosen to take former Coun. Roger Simms’ seat on Alberton council.
Allan, who moved to Alberton last July, was one of four people to submit their names for the vacant seat.
“I thought it would be something interesting and a good experience, and I wanted to be involved in the community for the sake of my kids,” she noted.
Allan will be sworn in at the Nov. 14 council meeting.
In related news, the new Millennium Skating Rink is all but finished after contributions from volunteers and contractors alike.
To celebrate the facility’s opening, a community Christmas party is being organized by the Alberton recreation commission to take place in December, and will include skating, sledding, a bonfire, and hot chocolate.
Alberton council also is looking for input after contracting out road maintenance to the Township of La Vallee as part of information-gathering for performance measurement surveys.
