On Oct. 19 around 7 a.m., an officer with Nishnawbe Aski Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance outside a residence on Six Nations Road on Kasabonika Lake First Nation.
A 54-year-old male of Kasabonika Lake First Nation, identified as Alec Tom McKay, was transported to medical treatment and subsequently pronounced dead by medical staff.
A post-mortem examination was scheduled to take place yesterday at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.
George Darren McKay, 30, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
He was to appear in court yesterday in Kenora.
Officers with Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and the OPP’s North West Region Crime Unit, under the direction of Det. Insp, Randy Heida of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
