More fires in north

the MNRF

There were five new fires by the end of yesterday in the Northwest Region—and a total of 12 new fires by day’s end Tuesday.
The bulk of the new blazes continue to appear in the northern sectors of the region and mostly caused by lightning.
The current number of active fires in the region is 67, which continues to rise despite many fires being declared “out” over the past two days.
There are no active fires in Fort Frances District.
Rain has dropped the forest fire hazard to “low” in the southern sectors of the region but it remains “moderate” to “high” in the central and northern portions.
