Ontario dispatched two CL-415 heavy water bombers from Dryden and Kenora in the West Fire Region on August 4, bound for Kamloops, British Columbia to provide assistance for the ongoing forest fire situation in that province.
Ontario currently has about 570 fire personnel working in British Columbia.
Fire officials from Ontario and British Columbia are planning the rotation of Ontario fire personnel out of the province as the first contingent sent out is nearing their two week assignment deadline. They will be replaced with new personnel from Ontario.
This rotation of fire personnel will continue through August as long as Ontario’s fire season remains quiet and British Columbia requires assistance.
Support is also being provided with fire suppression equipment including water pumps, fire hose, sprinkler kits and portable water tanks.
