Minor hockey holds ‘jamboree’

The Emo-Devlin-Barwick Minor Hockey Association held its annual jamboree for initiation players on Saturday and once again it was a fun day for all.
This year’s theme was “Beginning All-Stars.”
Five teams participated, including Emo Initiation (coached by Trevor Mills and Dean Morken), Fort Frances Novice Orange and Novice Black (both coached by Todd Hamilton), Rolling Lake Lightning girls (coached by Scott Clendenning, Dan Jean, and Mel Langtry), and the Baudette/Rainy River Mini-Mites (coached by Darren Olson).
After a five-minute warm-up, teams played three 12-minute periods, which kept the youngsters skating both ways.
The committee thanked the 18 sponsors, from both Fort Frances and locally, for giving generously to the jamboree.
“It was a great effort by everyone involved in any way,” the committee said. “The hospitality room upstairs gave children extra entertainment and much-required food to keep their energy up to snuff.”
