Mine Centre School held school spirit week last week. Each day had a different theme, and staff and students were encouraged to dress according to the theme for the day.
Monday was pajama day, everyone looked a little silly in their wacky hats and glasses Tuesday, then Wednesday was the day to dress like your hero, whether it was a super hero (i.e., Superman) or someone you looked up to (i.e., your mom or dad).
Thursday was a day at the beach, with everyone decked out in shorts and sun hats. Then Friday was the day to do everything backwards.
An assembly was held at the end of the day Friday to award a small prize to individuals who showed extra school spirit. They included:
–Daniel, Victoria, Todd, Allysia, Kendall, Jasmine, Blake, Kiera, Breanna, and Tashina (kindergarten);
–Corey, Miles, Natasha, Jamie, and Michelle (grade one/two);
–Emily, Alexis, Eli, Dominic, Robert, Nicole, Caitlan, and Ken (grade three/four);
–Sean, Heather, Gerald, and Brittany (grade five/six); and
–Alex, Angus, Hillary, Michael, David, and Evelyn (grade seven/eight).
The grade 7/8 class also received a special reward because they had the least amount of students showing school spirit; in fact, for two theme days, not even one person in the class dressed up.
Their prize was a lump of coal.
Principal Brenda Hyatt also mentioned that after having been in school for three weeks since the new year, there have been zero acts of violence.
Congratulations and keep up the good work!
