Men’s breakfast coming up Saturday

The next Men’s Fellowship Breakfast will be held this Saturday (Jan. 19) at 8 a.m. at the Emo Legion.
Dr. Phil Whatley will be the guest speaker.
Come for a delicious breakfast while enjoying some fellowship with old and new friends. The food is always fantastic, the fellowship welcoming, and the message amazing.
Men and boys of all ages are welcome, with the cost being $12/person.
For more info, call Larry 482-3104.

A capote-making workshop, with instructors Caren Fagerdahl and Jane Trivers, will be held Feb. 16 and 23 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Seven Generations Education Institute in Fort Frances (lunch provided).
The $45 base price covers sewing materials but participants still need to buy a blanket (prices vary).
For more info or to register, call Laura at 274-7891. Registration must be accompanied by payment.

The next fundraising activity for the Emo and District Lions Club will be a grocery raffle at Cloverleaf in Emo.
Tickets are being printed and as soon as everything is set to go, you’ll see eager club members selling them at Cloverleaf, on Front Street, and at other locations around the district.
Money raised from the raffle will go to various projects around the district, including the high school bursaries, the “chem-free grads,” vision assistance for young learners, fire victims, and many other needs being met by the club.
In related news, the Emo and District Lions will be donating the money they raised during this year’s “Polar Plunge” in Fort Frances to Kidsight, the Lions Dog Guides of Canada, and several other causes at their annual Mid-Winter Convention, which is being held at Fortune Bay Convention Center.
Members from the clubs in Northwestern Ontario and northeastern Minnesota will be in attendance. It’s a great time to meet with Lions from all over this region, to share ideas, and to learn about the activities in programs of clubs in other areas.
The clubs here in Rainy River District are hoping many members from our area will be able to attend.

The Borderland Snowmobile Club will be hosting a “poker run” this Saturday (Jan. 19) from Fort Frances to Emo and back.
There also will be lunch at the Emo Inn, with a pulled pork supper sponsored by Cloverleaf following the event.
Registration is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the groomer shack off Eighth Street in Fort Frances.
The cost is $40 for three hands. As well, a $35 event pass will be available at registration for those who don’t have a trail permit.
For more info, call club president John Homer at Causeway Insurance (274-6688).
