The Alzheimer Society’s sixth-annual “Ride for Memories” is on for this Saturday (Sept. 6).
And for those who have procrastinated about registering, there is still time left.
“I would like them if they could still call,” said Margaret Schonewille, executive director of the Alzheimer Society of the Kenora-Rainy River District.
Late registrants can purchase a registration package for $15 instead of $20, but they have to act fast.
Calling Friday afternoon will be too late. Ideally, hopeful participants should call Thursday or Friday morning if they expect to be part of the weekend ride.
Schonewille puts rider estimates about the same as last year-somewhere around the 150 mark.
The ride starts at 10:30 a.m. and Fort Frances participants will meet up at the Harbourage.
Motorcyclists will then cruise to Rainy River for lunch, drive back through Fort around 2:30 and head to Dryden.
Upon arrival in Dryden, riders will enjoy a steak dinner at the Best Western as well as prize draws.
Riders can take advantage of a special rate at the Best Western if they wish to spend the night, simply by mentioning the “Ride for Memories” when they make reservations.
