Marissa Kinnear is the youngest of the four contestants and a young woman with a wide variety of interests.
The 14-year-old Emo resident’s hobbies range from music—singing and playing her guitar—to sports such as volleyball, soccer and hockey, to photography, to “anything new that requires a challenge.”
She is also very clear on what she dislikes—“dishes, bugs, bullies and homework.”
Kinnear said she enjoys volunteering in her community during her free time. She has fond memories of her time volunteering with the Emo Novice Rockets girls’ hockey team this past season.
“This winter, I learned that there is a lot more than meets the eye when you are teaching kids about the great game of hockey,” she said, adding that what is even more important is “all the things that you can learn from the kids themselves.”
Kinnear will be entering Grade 9 in the fall at the Fort Frances High School. When she graduates she hopes to attend a culinary arts college to train to be a chef. She dreams of someday opening her own restaurant.
Daughter of Tammy and Allen Kinnear, Marissa has a younger brother, Carter, and an older sister, Tasha, who is also a fellow contestant.
Kinnear’s sponsor is Dimit Bus Lines Ltd.
