Marathon OPP, fire, and ambulance services attended a train-pedestrian collision at 2:35 p.m. on Saturday in Marathon.
A CP train travelling westbound through Marathon struck a 17-year-old youth west of Peninsula Road. The male, who was travelling south along a path, tried to cross the tracks and was struck by the engine.
The location was not a marked crossing area.
The teen was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
At the request of his family, the teen’s name is not being released.
