Man facing charges

On July 4 around 5:30 am, Rainy River District OPP officers responded to the report of a break and enter in progress at a residence on the 1200 block of Idylwild Drive.
Police received a call stating an intruder was in the residence and fighting with the home owner.
Police responded within minutes of the call and learned the suspect had fled the scene, entering a bush area.
With the assistance of the Treaty #3 Police Service, the area was contained.
The suspect later was located and arrested with the assistance of the OPP’s K-9 unit.
A 35-year-old male, of no fixed address, was charged with:
•break and enter;
•break and enter with intent to steal a firearm; and
•possession of property obtained by crime.
He remains in custody and will appear in court for a bail hearing
