Man critically hurt in stabbing

The OPP is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a stabbing incident that occurred Saturday around 10:30 a.m. at a residence on the Weagamow Lake First Nation.
Gilbert Quequish, 22, of Weagamow Lake was transported by air ambulance to Thunder Bay Regional Hospital (McKellar site) on Saturday afternoon, where he underwent emergency surgery for multiple stab wounds.
He was reported to be in critical condition.
A 25-year-old Weagamow Lake man was taken into police custody late Saturday evening and charged with attempted murder.
He was remanded into custody Sunday afternoon in Round Lake and taken to the Kenora District Jail.
He was scheduled to appear in court in Kenora today.
The investigation is being conducted by the Northwest Regional Criminal Investigation Unit in Sioux Lookout, with the assistance of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch in Kenora.
