Man charged with murder

The man charged with second-degree murder in connection with a woman’s death at the Norman Hotel in Kenora last week made a second court appearance earlier today.
Crown Attorney Rupert Ross’ office did not return any phone calls before press time today.
The 32-year-old male first appeared in court late Thursday afternoon and then was remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail.
A post-mortem was conducted on the woman’s body Friday at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora but police could not reveal any results prior to press time.
Police officers were called to the hotel around 9 p.m. last Wednesday in response to the report of a possible sudden death.
The incident is still the focus of an intensive investigation and so no further details can be released at this time, police said.
