Man charged in weapons incident

Around 9:45 p.m. last Friday (Sept. 10), a man walked into an establishment on Atwood Avenue in Rainy River, carrying a knife and demanding to see the manager.
The man was subdued by patrons and turned over to Rainy River OPP.
The 34-year-old Rainy River resident was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and assault with a weapon.
He was held in custody pending a court appearance earlier this week.
In other news, Atikokan OPP investigated a motor-vehicle collision on Highway 11B on Sunday that resulted in three people being injured.
A Dodge van was northbound on Highway 11B when a number of deer were observed on the roadway. The van slowed its rate of speed and was struck from behind by a northbound Chrysler car.
The driver of the car, a 35-year-old woman from Factor Lake, Ont., was charged with following too closely, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The occupants of the van were taken to hospital in Atikokan with minor injuries. They were treated and released.
