The local production of “True Up North Mamma Mia” last week at the Townshend Theatre in Fort Frances was an absolute treat!
Staged before almost sold-out audiences for all three nights (Thursday-Saturday), it was filled with song, laughter, and nostalgia.
The actors, producer, and volunteers all deserve huge congratulations and thanks for providing such an evening of entertainment.
Special kudos to Scott Barker, our local youth, for his excellent performance.

Back-to-school is a sure sign that summer is over—even though our summer this year seemed to cheat us of care-free, sunny days.
Classes resume for district students next Tuesday (Sept. 1).
Please take care on our roads and streets as students of all ages get back into their routine.

Robin’s 2¢:
An elderly gent was invited to an old friend’s home for supper one evening.
He was impressed by the way his buddy preceded every request to his wife with endearing terms such as “Honey,” “My Love,” “Darling,” “Sweetheart,” “Pumpkin,” and so forth.
The couple had been married for almost 70 years and clearly they were still very much in love.
When the wife went into the kitchen, the man leaned over closer to his host and said, “I think it’s wonderful that after all these years you still call your wife those loving pet names.”
The old man hung his head. “I have to tell you the truth,” he whispered.
“Her name slipped my mind about 10 years ago and I’m scared to death to ask the ‘old crank’ what it is.”
