While some people enjoy the chore of mowing their lawns over the course of the summer, it’s not a chore everyone appreciates. For those who would rather do anything but mow the lawn, it might be time to look into a Husqvarna Automower.

David Goodman is the General Manager at North Country Track and Wheel in Emo’s east end. While robot mowers may sound futuristic, Goodman said Husqvarna has been making them for quite a while.

“We’ve got a new line of Husqvarna Automowers,” Goodman said.

“Husqvarna has made Automowers for 25 years, but for this year we’ve got one that’s completely boundary wire free.”

Many types of automatic lawn mower require wires in the ground to tell the mower where to stop which requires installation and burying in the ground.

“It’s GPS controlled, it’s more terrain capable so it’s going to be well-suited to lawns in our area,” Goodman said.

“You set it up with an app on your phone, it can be done by the homeowner so they don’t have to have us come out and do installation any more.”

The app makes it easy for the homeowner to make any changes to the mower’s settings as well.

“Being all controlled through an app over the phone, if you need to make any adjustments, say because you’re doing some work in a certain area of your lawn, you can exclude that for a period of time,” Goodman added.

The larger Automowers are rated to mow up to two acres per day and are better suited to lawns that are fairly connected. They can go across pathways and driveways and whatnot, but need a predetermined path to get from one area to another. It has radar as well, if it needs to work around some obstacles.

For those who enjoy jumping on a big machine, North Country also has a range of riding mowers, including Kubota and Husqvarna zero-turn mowers.

“We’ve got spring sales on both Husqvarna and Kubota, and early in the season is when we have the best selection of products to see and try to find the right solution for a person’s lawn,” Goodman said.

In addition to spring sales, North Country is also part of Kubota’s Big Orange Event, which has additional discounts on other Kubota machines.

“That’s our annual open house through Kubota,” Goodman said.

“So we’ve got additional savings on side-by-sides, mowers, and compact tractors.”

Goodman says that the Big Orange Event has something for every property owner.

“Kubota has a very diverse product lineup, we have products that appeal to homeowner that has even half an acre of property in the country or in town, something to do snow clearing and some light landscaping with,” he said.

“Then we’ve got right up to farm tractors and construction equipment that’ll appeal to business owners or farmers.”
