The Sunset Country Métis is ready to face a new term with a council that includes both familiar and new faces, as well as a couple vacancies, following Saturday’s election here.
Former president Earl Klyne, Sen. Gordon Calder, and youth rep Nathan DeGagne were elected to the executive during polling Friday and Saturday.
But the positions of president and secretary/treasurer have yet to be filled–a situation office manager Eric Fagerdahl hopes to rectify soon.
“At some point, we’ll have to open it up and find people for these positions,” he noted, adding a date has not been set yet.
New councillors include Nora Rogers and Mike Gill. And returning to the council are Herb Snow, Tracey Lee, and Yvonne Noonan.
“I would have liked to see more votes cast. But I think it was a combination of cold weather and a lot of ’flu,” noted Fagerdahl.
“We are very thankful to the folks that did come out to vote, and of course, thankful to the people that make up our new council,” he added.
