Congratulations to Devlin resident Greg Stahn and his Emo fishing partner, Todd Baker, who won the second-annual Emo Walleye Classic over the weekend.
They caught a walleye weighing 8.80 pounds on Saturday, which not only won them the tournament but also the cash prize for big fish for the day and big catch of the day.
Congratulations to the other local Devlin/La Vallee anglers who competed in the tourney. I do not have all the results as of press time, but I do know my brother, Ralph Galusha, and Bill Godin finished in seventh place overall.
Last week’s tournament is sure to get all the teams in the spirit for the many other fish derbies to take place across Rainy River District over the next few months.
Congratulations to Emo for staging a successful tourney.

In local slo-pitch action from last week, Good Vibrations beat the Village People on May 26. No game was held May 27, no score was reported for May 28, and the May 29 game was cancelled.
Please call Laura Mutz with your scores or call me at 486-0072 (leave a message if necessary).
And don’t forget the annual slo-pitch tournament to raise money for the Crossroads community rink will take place June 27-29. This also is an opportunity for high school students to earn their community service hours.
I’ll have more information on this event next week.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, a gift suggestion would be a history book celebrating Devlin’s centennial.
Order your dad a book now and it will be available in February. The cost is $60 up to Sept. 1, 2003 and $65 after that date.

Devlin centennial cookbooks also are available at Greensides, Universal Enterprise, and Dev-Lynne’s. The cost is $10, and these would make a nice shower gift!

This is one for all the farmers in our area, especially those raising horses: “If you treat your wife like a thoroughbred, she won’t turn into an old nag!”
