Lightning strike delays cattle sale

Staff

The first cattle sale in the new Stratton Sales Barn has been delayed for a second time, due to a tragic weather event.

Volunteers have been working hard on the final push to complete the barn before this Saturday’s sale. A new scale and computer system had been installed and were functional, which was one of the causes for the previous postponement. However, in last night’s storm, the facility was hit by lightening.

No-one was injured, but the strike knocked out the power, and it’s unknown at this time what impact it had on the electronics. Coupled with a delay in the arrival of lights and water system components, organizers have made the difficult decision to delay the sale.
