Just because we have a long winter ahead and Covid-19 concerns have us pretty much pinned down to our own homes, it is no reason to be glum. Let’s brighten things up!
The West Rainy River District Lions Club has announced the Lions Festival of Lights Contest. Get those lights and decorations up on your property and brighten up the season…. And maybe at the same time win a jackpot. Like 1st prize of $1000, 2nd prize $500, and 3rd prize or $250.
Here’s how it works:
Enter your property by dropping your entry to WRRD Lions Festival of Lights at Kreger Sales & Service, 101 Atwood Ave, Rainy River, ON, P0W1L0 or by emailing WRRDFestivalofLights@gmail.com. Entry must include Name of Individual, group or business, Physical location of property entered, mailing address, phone number, and the entry fee of $10. This fee can either be in the form of a cheque dropped at Kreger’s or an electronic e-transfer of $10 to our email address along with your name and location details in the message section of the e-transfer. All entries must be received by Friday, December 11, 2020 to allow judging to take place. The winners will be announced on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Rainy River Arena & Recreation Centre.
Judging will begin Dec 12, 2020 and will consider Seasonal Theme, Creativity, and Spiritual values. Decisions of the judges will be final
Participation is open to all, whether from an individual, businesses or group in the West Rainy River District (west of the Morley/Chapple Municipal boundary). A Facebook page WRRD Lions Festival of Lights is established that will show a map with all locations after completed entry is received and will list the eventual winners. Awarded entries are expected to keep their displays up until January 1, 2021.
So get your entries in and illuminate the West Rainy River District with your talent. And plan a night drive through our winter wonderland to view our Lions Festival of Lights. It promises to be a truly sparkling and magical experience.
