Lengthy power outage still a go

Bring out the family board games or a good book—Fort Frances will be in the dark for about seven hours on Sunday due to a planned power outage.
The electricity is expected to be out from about 9 a.m.-4 p.m..
Meanwhile, 3,700 Hydro One customers west of town will be without power Sunday from 8-8:30 a.m. and again from 5-5:30 p.m., Hydro One spokesperson Nancy Shaddick said.
“In that area, there’s 511 customers that are going to be out from 8-11 a.m., as well,” she noted.
East of town, 1,000 customers will be without power from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., affecting those in Watten, Fairnington, and Halkirk, as well as Couchiching and Nigigoonsiminikaaning.
“Hydro One has tried to contact our customers through an auto-dialer to let them know about the outage,” said Shaddick.
“This work is very important for repairs and to change fuses at a distribution station,” she explained
Safeway will be closed all day Sunday due to the outage although its gar bar will re-open at 4 p.m.
Canadian Tire also will be closed for the day.
Wal-Mart and Tim Hortons are expecting to remain open while the power is on.
