Legion ladies welcome guests

Clara Stainke

The local Legion Ladies Auxiliary held their annual general meeting June 8, with 46 members present.
Also attending were six members from the local Branch (Bob Bagacki, Noris Piccinato, Bob Boland, Jim Marr, Cal Williamson, and Ed Haglund) and two guests from the International Falls Legion (Linda Cheznick and Terry Randolph).
The attendance prize was won by Jan Gosman while the birthday draw for June went to Penny Wood.
We also gave Danette Allan the birthday prize for July.
This Saturday (June 18), the Colour Party will be travelling to Brandon, Man. to attend a convention.
As well, the Colour Party will be marching in the opening ceremonies for the annual “Relay for Life” on June 24.
A reminder that a pancake breakfast will be held on Canada Day from 7-10 a.m. at the local Legion.
The Colour Party will march in the parade here, as well as in the one in International Falls on July 4.
We hope to see everyone out for Canada Day.
In other news, preparations for the annual Remembrance Day tea were discussed at last week’s meeting and things are getting underway to organize it.
Anyone willing to help out is asked to contact Sylvia or Sandy.
We are now taking a break for the summer, with monthly meetings to resume in September.
Have a healthy and fun summer!
